A “Noank Village House and Garden Tour” will be held at the end of June. It will begin with a Reception for Sponsors at 8 Front Street, Noank at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29th. The Tour itself will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the next day, June 30th. The Tour will feature a combination of 12 houses alone, houses and gardens, and gardens alone, plus the Meeting House and Gardens of the Noank Baptist Church, the Noank Historical Society’s annual Exhibition of Noank Painters at the Latham-Chester Store, and an exhibition of paintings done by the Plein Aire Painters Club of houses and gardens on the tour at Rob Anderson House, one of the Group Homes of the Noank Community Support Services. The following agencies (each of which has 501-c3 status) will benefit from the funds raised by the tour:

  1. OSCA (Our Shoreline Community Association), serves senior in the neighborhoods of Noank, Groton Long Point, Mumford Cove, Mystic, Stonington, Groton, and Ledyard. Its mission is to enhance the independent lives of seniors by providing the social support and security of a retirement community in their own homes.
  2. Noank Community Support Services Group, providing (a) therapeutic group home for adolescent girls from DCF, ages 13-21, (b) a shelter for homeless young adults, ages 18-24, and a Community Housing and Assistance Program for these clients as the transition to self-sufficiency, (c) shelter care for unaccompanied children ages infant to 18, of either gender, including pregnant and parenting teens, (d) transportation for DCF children and families; and (e) recovery support for adults with chronic mental health issues.
  3. Mystic River Homes, providing subsidized housing and social activities for senior citizens in 46 apartments for “independent living” and in 50 apartments for “congregate living” which also provides meals and house-keeping activities.
