Dealing with Chronic Back Pain

As we age, it becomes increasingly common to have neck and back pain on a regular basis.  This chronic pain is not just something that the elderly has to deal with, however.  People of all ages experience chronic pain, and often it does not seem to have any rhyme or reason.  The fact of the matter is that many neck and pain problems stem from minor problems earlier in life.

For example, a minor pinched nerve might not cause any pain when it first happens, but a few years down the line when the body has grown more and the misaligned vertebrae has continued to grow in a twisted position, the pain can be substantial.  You may not remember when it first started, but as the years go by, the pain will subsist and increase.

The best way to avoid back and neck pain is to simply maintain your body, so that there will not be problems in the future.  Regular chiropractic care is one of the best ways to avoid problems later in life.  If you are already experiencing chronic pain, numbness, or tingling, chiropractic can still help.

There are other ways to reduce pain as well.  Sometimes a doctor might recommend that you use a therapeutic cervical pillow, an overhead traction unit, or a sacroiliac belt at Scriphessco.  A specialist will know the approach so if you are not finding the relief that you are looking for, you may want to ask him or her about alternative options that you can perform in your own home.

One way to reduce pain and promote healing is to see a licensed massage therapist for relief.  By manipulating the muscles and tissues in the back, the massage therapist can release endorphins which will alleviate your pain substantially.  This will allow you to reduce the amount painkilling medications that you take on a daily basis.

Medications can be very detrimental to your mental and physical health if they are not taken in extreme moderation.  Liver damage is all too common from pain relievers, even mild ones like aspirin or ibuprofen.  Using natural methods to reduce pain is always preferable whenever possible.

Although dealing with chronic back pain can be frustrating, it is imperative that you do not give up.  Even if it seems like you will never find a solution to your pain, you owe it to yourself to pursue the best.
